About 90% of what I build is custom, so many of my photos show custom builds. You get the wood and options you pick here; borders, inlays and other sizes are a custom order.
A 2" white oak end grain cutting board, finished and ready to ship, at a lower price because of one small blemish.
About the blemish
This board has a thin hairline check that showed up after finishing. Every board gets checked before glue-up, but this one was small enough to slip past. It is structurally sound and fully food-safe. Give that spot a little extra attention when you wash it so food doesn't sit in it, and it will give you years of use.
Why white oak
White oak is light to medium brown with a subtle olive cast. Its closed pores make it naturally water-resistant, which is why it is the wood of whiskey barrels and boats. At 1,350 lbf on the Janka hardness scale, it is one of the tougher cutting surfaces I build and wears well for years.
