Couldn't load pickup availability
A 2" black walnut end grain board for daily cooking: thick enough to stay put on the counter, light enough to lift to the sink. End grain is easy on knife edges. 12x19 to 18x24, one- or two-sided, juice groove optional.
Why black walnut
Black walnut is rich chocolate-brown, sometimes with streaks of creamy sapwood. It has been North America's heirloom hardwood for centuries, and it grows from New England down through Texas. At 1,010 lbf on the Janka hardness scale, it is firm enough for daily chopping and easy on your knife edge.
How it's built
Edge grain boards are built from long strips of black walnut glued side by side, so you cut along the length of the grain. The result is a flat, tough surface that needs less upkeep than end grain and shows off the long grain of the wood. Every board is sanded smooth and finished with food-grade mineral oil and our Board Butter.
