Our everyday hard maple board: 1.5" edge grain, double-sided with finger grooves, light enough to move around the kitchen. 10x16 to 18x24, juice groove optional.
Why hard maple
Hard maple is a clean, creamy white. It is the hardest, densest maple and the traditional butcher block wood, the same species used for bowling alleys and basketball courts. At 1,450 lbf on the Janka hardness scale, it is one of the tougher cutting surfaces we build and wears well for years.
How it's built
Edge grain boards are built from long strips of hard maple glued side by side, so you cut along the length of the grain. At 1.5" thick it is light enough to move around the kitchen every day, and it is double-sided so you can flip it between jobs. Every board is sanded smooth and finished with food-grade mineral oil and our Board Butter.
