Edge grain cherry, 2" thick: a flat, tough surface that shows off the long grain and needs less upkeep than end grain. 15x20 to 20x30, one- or two-sided, juice groove optional.
Why cherry
Cherry is a light pinkish-brown that deepens to a rich reddish-brown with age and light. It is a smooth, tight-grained American hardwood that looks richer every year you use it. At 950 lbf on the Janka hardness scale, it is firm enough for daily chopping and easy on your knife edge.
How it's built
Edge grain boards are built from long strips of cherry glued side by side, so you cut along the length of the grain. The result is a flat, tough surface that needs less upkeep than end grain and shows off the long grain of the wood. Every board is sanded smooth and finished with food-grade mineral oil and our Board Butter.
