The same 3" end grain construction we build for Texas BBQ restaurants, in African teak. Heavy enough to stay put under a whole packer brisket, and end grain so your knife stays sharp. 15x20 to 20x30, single-sided with silicone feet and textured handles or double-sided.

Why African teak

African teak is yellow to golden-brown that ages into a rich copper-brown. Also called iroko, it is not botanically true teak, but it shares teak's oily feel and resistance to moisture. At 1,260 lbf on the Janka hardness scale, it is one of the tougher cutting surfaces we build and wears well for years.

How it's built

We glue up each 3" block from African teak with the wood fibers standing on end. Your knife slips between the fibers instead of slicing across them, so edges stay sharp longer and cut marks close up. All that mass keeps the block planted while you slice a whole packer brisket. Every board is sanded smooth and finished with food-grade mineral oil and our Board Butter.

Care

Hand wash with soap and warm water, dry both sides, and let it stand on its side or feet to air dry. Never soak it or run it through the dishwasher. Keep it hydrated with our Board Butter so moisture stays out and knives don't dig into dry grain.
